De marechaussekazerne in 's-Heerenberg is dankzij de inzet van enkele Berghenaren zoals de heer Gijs van Elk van de sloop gered en prijkt nu als een van de fraaiste monumenten van Bergh op de hoek van de Plantsoensingel-zuid en de Emmerikseweg. De marechausse die in 's-Heerenberg gelegerd was speelde ook een belangrijke rol in de oorlogsgeschiedenis van Bergh.
