Oorlogen hebben Koewacht eeuwenlang veel ellende bezorgd. Zo drukten zowel de Eerste als de tweede Wereldoorlog hun stempel op het dorp. De herinneringen daaraan zijn nog zichtbaar. Aan de andere kant leverde al die strijd in de delta ook tal van mooi plekjes op.
