Kalixälven is een Zweedse rivier, die ontspringt op de bergtoppen in het bergplateau waar ook de Kebnekaise onderdeel van uitmaakt, binnen de gemeente Kiruna in Norrbottens län. Kalixälven begint bij het meer Unna Vistasavare, stroomt door de Vistasvagge-vallei en stroomt dan bij Nikkaluokta samen met water uit het Ladtjojaure het Paittasjärvi in. Er volgen nog een aantal meren: Laukkujärvi, Holmajärvi en het Kaalasjärvi. Bij het dorp Kaalasjärvi stroomt het water dan deze rivier in. De rivier is 461 km lang en stroomt eerst oostwaarts, vlak voor Masugnsbyn buigt de rivier zuidwaarts om daarna naar de Botnische Golf te stromen. De rivier is niet bruikbaar voor commerciële vaart; wel voor de kanosport. Een groot deel van het jaar is de rivier bevroren . Het stroomgebied is ongeveer 18.000 km²; het gemiddeld debiet bedraagt 290 m³/sec.
