Montaña de la Mar is samen met Las Morras del Corcho een vulkaantop die gevormd werd bij een eerdere uitbarsting van lava van de vulkaan.
Bij de uitbarsting van de montaña grande 10.000 jaar geleden stroomde de lava langs deze toppen die er boven uit staken.
De Mirador del Montaña de la Mar steekt 34 meter boven de zeespiegel uit. Vanaf het Mirador del Mar kunnen bezoekers genieten van een adembenemend uitzicht op de ruige kustlijn van Güímar, met zijn rotsachtige kliffen, kleine baaien en uitgestrekte zeegezichten. Op heldere dagen strekt het uitzicht zich uit tot aan de horizon, waar de oceaan samensmelt met de lucht. Naast het bewonderen van het landschap, is het Mirador del Mar ook een populaire plek om foto's te maken, te ontspannen en te genieten van de frisse zeelucht.
