De noordzijde van de Feuerspitze is een steile, brokkelige wand, die uit opvallend rood hoornsteen, vuursteen en radiolariet bestaat. De berg heeft hier zijn naam aan te danken. Bij klimtochten langs deze wand bestaat een groot gevaar op steenslag.
