In Krudenburg stands the Krudenburg, which was once a knight's seat. The village also derives its name from it. Krudenburg was first mentioned in a document in 1363, when the knight Rutger von Boetzelaer purchased the fief as an open house with the fishery in the Lippe and the watermill from Count Johann von Kleve. Today, only a tower and the foundation walls of the castle complex remain. A residential building and riding facilities were later constructed for residential purposes within the castle complex. Krudenburg used to be a fishing village with a port on the Lippe. Lippetreidler made a stop here. Before the water level of the Lippe decreased due to the construction of the Wesel-Datteln Canal, Krudenburg could only be reached by ferry. The castle moat was naturally still filled with water at that time. There was no bridge. Only the tavern "Zur Fähre" serves as a reminder of the old times. Unfortunately, it has also since closed. The building is currently supported by a wooden structure.
As of 2016, Krudenburg has 305 inhabitants over an area of 128.1 ha (1.281 km²).
