Welcome to beautiful South Limburg and especially to the municipalities of Brunssum and Heerlen. This route of Natuurmonumenten takes you through the beautiful area of the Brunssummerheide.

Geological activities from the past have led to the Brunssummerheide developing into a versatile nature reserve where forests, heaths, streams, fens, agricultural land and sandy plains determine the landscape. The core of the heath is formed by the source area of the Roode Beek, where peat formation occurs. Both on the heaths and in the forests there are some fens.

This route is very suitable for people who have difficulty walking or move around in a wheelchair.

The route can be followed via the black poles with the orange band. You can park at the information center of the Brunssummerheide, where you can also go for a delicious cup of coffee.
