Kuno is a folk legend about betrayal and forbidden love, spread over the years by itinerant storytellers. The chronicle is about Kuno, son of Lady Minnegardis. At the urging of his uncle Wijnand van Borenburcht, he attended the priestly training in Aachen, but soon joined his uncle's army. There he proved to be a brave knight and was appointed officer of King Charles's bodyguard. He fell in love with the king's youngest daughter, after which they fled together to the castle of Wijnand.
