A beautiful walk around den Anker. Along Trage Wegen, fields, and small woods. Extra atmosphere with snow! A great walk in the cold on a Sunday afternoon.

Looking for the black poplar. After all, this is the indigenous poplar of Europe. Once very common in very wet river valleys that are flooded for half the year, which is also called a floodplain forest. Now nearly extinct due to drainage and heavy competition from the Canadian poplar. This is in turn a hybrid of the black and the American poplar (an exotic species).
