Descripción por el autor

Along Remswiesen, forest, Limes and precious metals.

The journey begins in the Daimler town of Schorndorf. If you start from the train station, you should visit the market square: Here, half-timbered facades vie for the beauty prize. The castle park of Schorndorf Castle has been particularly splendidly spruced up for the garden show and changing flower exhibitions are held in the castle cellar. Other worthwhile destinations along the cycle path are the Forscherfabrik, where children can experience technical experiments, and Club Manufaktur, a cultural center known far beyond the city limits.

The cycle path leaves the built-up area in an easterly direction through fields and meadows and follows the railroad line for a while until it meets the Rems shortly before Urbach. The cycle path passes Urbach without touching the town. Almost too early for a break, but the spacious barbecue area on the banks of the Rems is perfect for a hearty rest; you just need to bring your own food and drink.

Next, the route crosses Plüderhausen along the Rems on quiet roads. Here, the Rems underwent extensive renaturation measures for the garden show. The water structure measure carried out by the state of Baden-Württemberg primarily serves the ecological development of the Rems and the improvement of the watercourse. Rest areas offer space for leisure and experiencing nature. A little further on, the Plüderhausen bathing lake and the Waldhausen quarry pond tempt you to cool off, especially on hot days. The exact geographical center of the Rems can be found in the Lorch suburb of Waldhausen. As part of the garden show, a large stone block was installed here and the banks of the Rems were extensively renaturalized. From here, there is a good view of the Elisabethenberg castle complex, the home and sanatorium of the Diakonie social welfare organization.Between Waldhausen and Lorch, the path climbs and descends through dense forest. Every now and then, the Rems comes into view. Pure romance until you reach Lorch. The trail crosses the town and you can catch a glimpse of Lorch Abbey, the town's landmark, from time to time. A detour here is worthwhile: experience a cultural and historical leisure experience for the whole family. A reconstruction of a Roman watchtower on the Limes border wall can be climbed nearby. A city tour is also really worthwhile to explore the city's Roman and Staufer history.

The cycle path leaves the built-up area past the sports grounds. Shortly after the greyhound racing track, the path climbs up to the flood embankment and touches the green floodplain forest of the natural river landscape of the Rems. Shortly before Schwäbisch Gmünd, the Rems shows its natural side - even without renaturation measures. The stage ends in Remspark in the immediate vicinity of the train station. The "silver-paneled" Hotel am Remspark invites you to dine with juicy steaks and burgers and a wonderful view of Schwäbisch-Gmünd. The "Villa Hörzel" restaurant on the Rems terrace offers a good view of the Rems. The imposing silhouette of the Gold and Silver Forum also catches the eye. The gold-coated, asymmetrical walls of the square building glisten in different shades of gold in the sun. In front of it is the Gold and Silver Square with a restaurant and beautiful outdoor area. The building and the square are reminiscent of the city's precious metal tradition in days gone by.

A final walk through Remspark, which invites you to linger with its flowerbeds and benches, is a great way to reflect on the beautiful cycle tour.
