SB2 Neckar-Schozach Runde

A charming journey through the dreamy Schozach river valley and along the Neckar with its impressive terraced vineyards.

The name Neckar comes from the Celtic word "nik". Nik means something like "to storm off". And you can set off on this fantastic round trip in tranquil Talheim. The town itself can look back on a long and eventful history. See for yourself when you visit the 7,000-year-old Talheim tomb from the Neolithic period. This find is not only nationally but internationally renowned and an attraction that is now going on tour with a special exhibition.

Don't miss the trip along the Schozach to Horkheim, via the first Neckar lock in the Heilbronn district, which lowers the Neckar by 7.30 meters.

A leisurely tour to the protected Nordheim weir. The route then continues along the Neckar to the right to Lauffen am Neckar, the birthplace of Friedrich Hölderlin, founded around 1200 AD, always along the impressive steep slopes of the Katzenbeißer. The famous terraced vineyards along the Neckar reward you with a magnificent panoramic view over the Heilbronn region.

A short, crisp climb takes you halfway up to a wonderful panoramic view high into the vineyards.

Between the Schozach and Neckar valleys, you cycle a few kilometers on this plateau. Liebenstein Castle in Neckarwestheim is enthroned on this route alongside the cycle path. At the end of the tour, you cycle through the lovely Schozach valley back down into the Neckar valley to the starting point in Talheim.
