Paddling tour "From Griebnitzsee to Glienicker Brücke and back"

The Griebnitzsee is part of the picturesque Havel lakes landscape and with a paddle rental station at the Griebnitzsee S-Bahn station, it is an ideal starting point for a tour through the park and palace landscape of Potsdam - by canoe, kayak, or SUP. On the southern shore of the lake, you first paddle along the Neubabelsberg villa colony. Like precious pearls on a chain, one architectural gem follows another here. In the 19th century, those who owned a villa on the southern shore of the Griebnitzsee usually had status and reputation. The proximity to the film studios also made the villa colony attractive to filmmakers. One of the most famous villas on the Griebnitzsee is the Villa Urbig by the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, also known as the Churchill Villa. During the Potsdam Conference, the British Prime Minister resided there. Today, the property belongs to SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner.
