Museum of Women

The Museum of Women in Echt is one of a kind. Nowhere else in the Netherlands will you find a museum dedicated to women and their lives. As dynamic as that is, that's how the museum tells its stories. In successive exhibitions, the life of women is highlighted and the history of the municipality of Echt-Susteren is portrayed.
Identity remains the common thread: presenting women's and family life in all its facets. The Museum of Women opts for topical themes. It is not a static collection of objects, but a place where stories are told and preserved.
The Museum has a changing exhibition on the first floor and a permanent exhibition in the form of the Cabinet of Wonders on the ground floor. In the Cabinet of Wonders, special objects from the municipal history of Echt-Susteren are presented.
The Museum of Women is located in the municipality of Echt-Susteren, the narrowest part of the Netherlands. It is located in the old town hall of Echt, an iconic monumental building in the center of the village, next to the Sint Landricus church.
