University of Police and Public Administration North Rhine-Westphalia

The University of Police and Public Administration North Rhine-Westphalia, until December 2019 University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration North Rhine-Westphalia, is an institution of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It originally had an institution-like character, but since the introduction of the University of Applied Sciences Act for the Public Service of North Rhine-Westphalia, it has been a legally dependent corporation with a predominantly corporate structure. It is located in the portfolio of the Ministry of the Interior of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and, with currently around 12,200 students, is the largest administrative college in Germany. Its main task is training for the senior police and administrative service, in which application-oriented teaching and studies prepare students for professional activities in municipal and state administration as well as the state police, which require the application of scientific findings and methods. HSPV NRW is based in Gelsenkirchen and has study locations in Gelsenkirchen and ten other cities.
