Chateau de Saint Fontaine

A first castle on the Saint-Fontaine fief was destroyed at the end of the 13th century during the famous Cow War, fought between the County of Namur and the Prince-Bishopric of Liège.

Saint-Fontaine was a seigneury under the feudal court of Liège and belonged to Wathy de Cent-Fontaine. In 1345 it was sold to Olivier d'Ohey.
The ruined castle was replaced by a new castle that went up in flames in the early 19th century . Count Emile de Liedekerke built the current classical castle on the site of the burnt-down castle between 1820-1830.
Built in limestone and sandstone , the château de Saint-Fontaine has a cubic shape topped by a terracotta balustrade. In the park is the remarkable chapel of Notre-Dame, a Romanesque building from the 12th century.
