This unforgettable gravel bike tour begins at the Stroroute in Roeselare. From here, we embark on a beautiful route full of varied terrain, historical sites, and tranquil natural landscapes.

Roeselare to Zonnebeke

After the start, the route soon takes us to Zonnebeke, a small village closely associated with the history of World War I. Here, we ride through the castle park, a beautiful landscape that gives us a first impression of the green and peaceful surroundings. The winding paths are ideal for getting into the rhythm for the rest of the tour.

The Polygon Wood and Hill 62

From Zonnebeke, we move into the Polygon Wood, where the dense vegetation provides pleasant shade. The forest is famous for its historical significance, and along the way, we pass Hill 62. The surroundings are a tangible reminder of the region's history. A stop at the Sanctuary Wood Museum and the adjacent Sanctuary Wood Cemetery offers a poignant moment to pause and reflect on the past.

Zillebekevijver and the Fortress of Ypres

After Sanctuary Wood, we continue to Zillebekevijver. This is a rest stop full of natural beauty, surrounded by lush banks. From here, we make a loop along the fortifications of Ypres, where part of the route runs along an unpaved path. Here, we follow the Bijlanderpad, which runs parallel to the Ypres-Comines canal. The tranquil river landscape and the beautiful way create a perfect balance for cyclists.

Provincial Territory De Palingbeek

The Provincial Territory De Palingbeek welcomes us with quiet, winding paths that meander through forests and meadows. Here, we pass the golf club and historical sites such as the Spoilbank Cemetery and Chester Farm Cemetery. After these stops, we continue to Hill 60, a well-known viewpoint overlooking the former battlefields.

Gasthuis Woods and Geluveld

We leave De Palingbeek behind and enter the Gasthuis Woods, where gravel paths lead us through shade-giving trees and expansive fields. In Geluveld, a small but picturesque village, we begin the ascent to Reutel. This part of the route goes uphill, and once we reach the top, we arrive at Beselare, the famous witch village known for its folklore and mysterious history.

Beselare and De Vergifhoek

After Beselare, we travel towards Vergifhoek, a unique area characterized by beautiful views and challenging gravel paths. We continue our way over the Keiberg, a small rise that offers a lovely view of the landscape.

Moorslede, Beitem, and the Kezelberg Route

In Moorslede, we take the Kezelberg Route, a quiet, green cycling route through open fields and along country roads. This route leads us to Beitem, a charming village where we can experience the tranquility of rural life.

Bergmolen Forest and Zilverberg

The Bergmolen Forest is a true delight for gravel riders. Here, there are winding paths surrounded by dense forest and open meadows, leading us to our final stop: Zilverberg.

Back to the Start
