Along the North Sea, the Zwin and its polders to Sluis

From the station of Knokke a walking route to Sluis. The first kilometers follow the seawall to the Zwin and its polders. We arrive in the old seaport and fortified city of Sluis.

By the sea, I personally followed the high tide line as it seemed more pleasant to me. It is not yet possible to create the route in that way on Routeyou.

The war is never far off along the route. Who hasn't actually fought for the harbors and the Zwin here? Spaniards, Dutch, Austrians, Germans, ...

Here and there you also receive appropriate explanations and context regarding the fortifications that suddenly appear.

I personally stayed overnight at the campsite in Sluis. To continue the next day to Maldegem.

There are options to combine between the two places with public transport, but it is also perfectly doable with the combination of two cars or by bike. Be cautious with public transport, as it can change in Belgium.
