Moeskroen - Donk Meer

Departure from the large market of Moeskroen, towards Route de la Laine (after about 3 KM).

Route de la Laine: In 2010, the first spade was plunged into the ground. Goal: To relieve the center with a 2.3-kilometer ring road south of the city and to connect both its own industrial area and the French border towns more quickly to the E403 motorway (A17). To this day, it still lies unfinished... (very nice for a traffic-free drive ;-) ).

After about 20 KM, you pass the old swimming pool of Spiere-Helkijn.

Spiere-Helkijn: One of the first outdoor swimming pools in Belgium is located in Spiere-Helkijn. A water treatment facility at the mouth of the Spierebeek into the Scheldt was converted into an outdoor swimming pool in 1935. In 1953, the swimming pool pulled the emergency brake after a swimmer drowned. Part of the swimming pool was renovated, but the basin itself and the changing rooms are still in their current state.

After 56 KM, you reach Café De Vliegende Schotel. (Sint-Hubertusplein, 9620 Zottegem) Dane is a warm guy and welcomes all his guests with open arms. For those who haven’t visited yet, it’s definitely worth a stop. A genuine motorcycle café!

Continue along winding roads and some climbs, final destination the Donk Lake of Overmere.
