History of the Lintbos.

Under the motto 'together we create the Lintbos', a unique project started on March 18, 2001 at the former airport of Grimbergen:

the creation of 70 hectares of forest, close to the major city of Brussels.

It had been 100 years since such a large new forest was planted in Flanders.

The municipality of Grimbergen had a forest management plan drawn up for all its other forests and granted the Lintbos in leasehold to the Agency for Nature and Forests (ANB).

The Lintbos is a young forest hidden in the Maalbeek Valley with its mills and prestigious country estates.

Young but already full of life with birds of prey and many regular visitors such as oystercatchers, partridges, quails, and tree pipits.

At the edges of the forest, you might even spot a meadow pipit.

The non-profit organization Lintbos actively engaged in the management of this forest: they ensured open spaces with views of both the abbey of Grimbergen and the church of Beigem.
