The Town Hall of Vevey houses the municipal administration of the municipality of Vevey in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It is part of an architectural complex that consists of three closely interconnected parts: St. John's Tower, the former medieval hospital that became a townhouse in the mid-fourteenth century, and finally the actual Town Hall, which was built in the early eighteenth century.
In the Middle Ages, this central part of the Vevey agglomeration had private residences and the city's butcher shops (Macellum, butcher shop), over which this neighborhood once existed. In 1327, two private individuals founded a house for the poor, a charitable institution meant to accommodate needy patients. The institution, now known as "Vieux Mazel," rapidly expanded through the acquisition of neighboring properties.
