The baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Anna was built with the help of local residents by Franciscans from Cologne. It is located on the Annaberg in the valley of the Wiembach, near the Saint Maurice Church.
Since 1695, the Franciscans were responsible for the pastoral care of the parish, which at that time had no priest. They initially occupied a rented house, built the chapel, and then founded the monastery in 1705. Thanks to the pastor Coenen, who was appointed in 1699, the Franciscans were forced to leave again in 1715, against the will of the population. From that moment on, the maintenance of the Annakapel was the responsibility of the parish. In the following centuries, the Annakapel was at times a beloved destination for a pilgrimage, especially on the feast day of the patron saint. The monastery building served as a school building and residential accommodation for the churchwarden and the vicar from 1728 to 1818.
