St. George is the Protestant Lutheran parish church in the center of the town of Nördlingen. The late Gothic church, built from 1427 to 1505, with its prominently visible tower, the Daniel, is the landmark of the town.
The city council of Nördlingen decided to build St. George's Church on October 17, 1427. The choir of the hall church was completed in 1451, and construction of the tower began in 1454. The high altar by Friedrich Herlin was finished in 1462, and the tower was completed in 1490. With the completion of the vault in 1505, the construction, which is largely made of Suevite, was completed. As Nördlingen joined the Reformation under Kaspar Kantz, St. George became the Protestant town church in the years 1523/1525.
