The Jerez Holy Week Monument is located in an emblematic place in Jerez de la Frontera, where the official race of the Confrarías begins, the Albereda Cristina next to the Church of Sant Domingo and the confluence of Larga and Porvera streets.
The work of the sculptor Sebastián Santos Calero was commissioned in October 2005 after the XVIII. National Assembly of Brotherhoods and Guilds inaugurated in the city. The names of all local brotherhoods are engraved on the back.
It is popularly known as "the cutout" (the cutout).
Holy Week is a major religious, social and cultural event in Jerez de la Frontera, commemorating the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ . It is celebrated annually in the week of the first full moon of spring in the municipality of Jerez de la Frontera, mainly in the city center. Together with the Paardenmarkt it forms one of the most important spring festivals in the city, which has been of international tourist interest since 1980.
From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday , 45 processions of brotherhoods go to the city's cathedral and another procession of brotherhoods on Passion Saturday.
