Saint-Blaise-la-Roche is a French commune with 237 inhabitants in the Breuschtal in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region.
In a text from the 13th century, the same locality is mentioned under the name "Hiltwigsgerüte." The settlement belonged to the Lords of Ban de la Roche, who were part of the von Rathsamshausen family. The Counts of Andlau also held possessions there, leading to conflicts between the two families. Furthermore, the village was owned by the Diocese of Strasbourg, the Lords of Val de Villé, and the Barons of Bollwiller. Then Saint-Blaise-la-Roche again came into the possession of the Counts of Andlau, who held it until the French Revolution. Subsequently, the village was assigned to the Vosges department. In 1871, it became part of the Unterelsass district when Alsace was annexed by the German Empire under Emperor Wilhelm I. During World War I, it was the starting point of the 25.7-kilometer-long Hantz railway. In 1919, it was returned to France through the Treaty of Versailles.
