The Franco-German Historial of Hartmannswillerkopf is a museum located at Hartmannswillerkopf in Alsace, which depicts the military actions during World War I in the Vosges and at Hartmannswillerkopf. It highlights the events from historical, educational, and tourist perspectives, and serves as a place of remembrance. It is part of the ensemble of the Nécropole nationale du Silberloch - Hartmannswillerkopf and the underground Nécropole nationale du Vieil-Armand with the crypt-ossuary.
Federal President Joachim Gauck and François Hollande laid the foundation stone for the Historial on August 3, 2014, the 100th anniversary of the German Empire's declaration of war against France. At that time, plaques were installed to commemorate the German victims, and for the first time, the German flag was raised. The culture of remembrance changed.
The Historial is located northwest of Mulhouse and Cernay. It can be reached from Cernay via D 431. It is situated northwest of Wattwiller at the foot of Hartmannswillerkopf.
