To the eagle's nest Erice and the salt pans of the Via del Sale from Trapani to Marsala

This tour visits the far west of Sicily.

Start with a visit to the medieval town of Erice, located like an eagle's nest on a rock at an altitude of 750 meters. A guide to the city visit can be found here.

After visiting Erice we descend the mountain and drive through Trapani to the salt flats. We stop briefly at the Molino Maria Stella visitor center. Further in Nubia, the Museum of Salt awaits us, which is more than worth a visit and where you can learn everything about the extraction of salt with windmills.

We also see defensive towers such as the Torre Nuvia.

We continue to the Stagnone Lagoon, where you can book a boat trip to the famous Mozia Island . Here is also the Saline Ettore and Infersa with a still functioning windmill.

We still take time to drive along the salt flats of Marsala to the extreme western point of Sicily. If you have time left, you can visit Marsala .
