Update May 1, 2021: Unfortunately, the south slope was dismantled and cleared in April 2021 for housing construction.
The railway still serves as a barrier between Zesgehuchten and the center of Geldrop. Because a crossing over the Eindhoven canal had to be made, the railway line was constructed at an elevated level. The sand needed for this elevation was excavated by a large machine. In its place, a large pond was created, named after that excavator, colloquially known as "De IJzeren Man."
A number of "railway workers" continued to live in Zesgehuchten and started their families there. The railway also provided employment at the yard by the station. On the Zesgehuchten side, the wagons were loaded and unloaded there. Via the Losweg, one could (can) access the ramp and drive up.
Later, DAF passenger cars were also loaded onto the train at this location. Among cycling enthusiasts, this climb is known as "the Col of Zesgehuchten." From the south side.
