Beekhuizerzand

The Beekhuizerzand is a unique drifting sand area on the North Veluwe of about 200 hectares. The nature reserve is sloping, very open with some flying pines. At the edges of the sandy area there are forests in which the Scots pine is most common. Extreme temperature differences in the area ensure that flora and fauna are very specific.

Flora & Fauna

Lichens and sand lizards are typical species for the shifting sands. In terms of birds, the rare dune pipit and nightjar can sometimes be seen. There are also the tree lark, skylark, yellow bunting, tree pipit, black and the crested lark.
