The Mountainbikeroute van Appelscha runs entirely through the Drents-Friese Wold. The 17 km long route offers a great deal of variation. You will cross the Kale Duinen through the loose sand and follow various forest paths. Steer tightly along the trees is essential! The hilly parts of the route are extra fun, there are also several of them.

The route connects with two direct connecting routes to the Bosberg route from Appelscha and to the route from Smilde/Diever.

Along the route you will find a number of good boarding options with ample parking. For example Canada, Terwisscha and at Boscamping Appelscha. From the Boerestreek you can take the intensive red route, but there is a quieter connecting route along Aekinga. There are also several overnight accommodations in the immediate vicinity of the route. Here you will also find several catering locations.

In Appelscha and Elsloo you will find bike rental. Most accommodations along the route can also arrange for a good mountain bike to be delivered to your location. Then you can just hop on!
