This route takes you to the remains of the Fossa Eugeniana, the never-completed Meuse-Rhine Canal from the seventeenth century.

The route goes through Helenaveen and around Sevenum to Grubbenvorst. There you take the ferry and travel along the Meuse towards the hamlet of Hanik. Just before you leave the Netherlands at the place Lingsfort, you will see Fort Hazepoot, one of the few preserved forts for the defense of the canal.

Then you cycle into Germany, partially along the remains of the Fossa Eugeniana, mostly via agricultural paths (roads closed to motor vehicle traffic, except for agricultural traffic). The route goes around Walbeck towards Twisteden. The landscape around Walbeck lies on a foothill of the ridge, which becomes much more visible in the south of the town of Straelen. Thus, the terrain is slightly hilly, but the elevation differences do not exceed 15 meters.

Through the estate De Hamert, the route re-enters the Netherlands (via a well-paved "bike path") and heads towards the Meuse. The Meuse is crossed via the Arcen - Broekhuizen ferry. The main road to Lottum is avoided as much as possible in order to ride close to the Meuse.

After that, the route turns towards Horst. Via America, Griendtsveen, and Liessel, you cycle back to Heusden.
