Preacher Mountain

This moderately difficult summit tour leads to one of the local mountains of Galtür: the Predigberg (2,645 meters) with its fantastic view of the Silvretta group, the Ballunspitze, and into the Paznauntal down to Kappl. The ascent through forests and alpine terrain is mostly quite steep, which is why a good basic fitness level is required. In the end, it also goes through scree slopes, requiring sure-footedness. On the way back, it is recommended to take a detour through the Vergiel and the Maißwald with its cozy Stafaliweiher. The return to the starting point is via the Paznauner Höhenweg.
From the village square in Galtür, walk south past the Hotel Rössle, then turn left, cross the Jambach, and pass the sports and cultural center. The hiking path to Predigberg now leads in a southeastern direction, then steeply up eastward through the forest. After an hour and a half, the tree line is reached, and the landscape changes to alpine. It goes past the "Bödale," where paragliders take off on nice summer days. The final ascent to the 2,645-meter high summit becomes steep and rocky again – sure-footedness is therefore necessary. Once at the top, there is a wide view of the peaks of the Silvretta group, the Balluspitze, as well as down into the Jamtal and Lareintal.
