Saint-Hubert Abandoned roads

This walk of nearly 20 km allows you to penetrate the soul of the forest of Saint-Hubert, a true hymn to nature.

From the Fagne de la Doneuse begins a lush valley in which a stream finds its way to the rocks. During the walk, you walk along a nature reserve, observe the forest fauna of the Ardennes and enjoy the silence that reigns there.

Departure and parking Accessible by the N89 (exit 25 on the E411) to Saint-Hubert. Leave the road at km 49 'National Gliding Centre'. Head to the opposite side of the center. After 1.2 km you will arrive at a T. Park your car here. There is a sign with starting points for walks. Starting point: 'Sapin Fi'.

The descent to the valley is long but is accompanied musically by the clatter of the stream flowing from the rocks. On the way you walk along a birch forest, the Boulaie du Rouge Poncé. This nature reserve is a type of forest that once covered the entire Ardennes region, long before the region was exploited for coniferous production. A little further, with a little luck, you can observe the forest fauna from the observation site of the Bilaude. Via the Masblette valley, the route disappears completely into the world of silence...
