Cycling in the north of the Bruges Ommeland: Damme - Sluis - Lissewege - Uitkerkse polder

This cycling tour explores the north of the Bruges Ommeland in the triangle Uitkerkse polder - Damme - Sluis - Lissewege .

Start at the Sint-Pietersplas north of Bruges, to drive via the Dampoort and the Damse Vaart to the picturesque Damme .

At Moerkerke we cross the Leopold Canal and past Lapbreeke we have to take the ferry across the Brugge-Sluis canal to cross the border a little further to Sluis for a stopover.

We return along the Damse Vaart and stay south of Westkapelle to pass the Southern Input Dock . Here we follow the A11 at the bottom, which is a few meters higher and protects us from the west wind.

We cross Dudzele and cycle along the Boudewijn Canal and the Ter Doest Abbey to the white village of Lissewege, which is worth a visit.

We drive through the Uitkerkse Polder , a nature reserve for migratory birds.

We reach the starting point again through the flat polder landscape .
