Ecoveloduct Waasmunster

Enjoy the peace and nature on this beautiful loop walk through rural Waasmunster. You walk on low-traffic dirt roads, where you have little or no hindrance from the E17 that cuts the landscape in two. You will discover the Ketelbossen, an old forest area with a rich fauna and flora. You will also pass 't Oud vlieveld, a former military airport that is now a nature reserve. Here you can admire the ecoveloduct, a bridge for vulnerable road users and animals that reconnects the pieces of nature. You continue your way to De Vaag, a play forest of the municipality of Waasmunster. You walk along the Durmemeersen, a beautiful unpaved area along the Durme, where you can enjoy the view of the water and the meadows. You'll also pass Park Blauwendael, a castle park with a French garden and an English landscape garden. You will end your walk at Roosenberg Abbey, a modernist monastery designed by the famous architect Dom Hans van der Laan.

Along the way you can relax in a cozy pub Den Engel (see photo) or Café De Vierschaar (check the opening hours). Here you can drink a nice local beer or have a bite to eat. This walk is highly recommended for those who love peace, nature and culture.
