Kluisbergen: Giants, tranquility, and regional beers in the fairytale-like Kluisbos

Start/End Point: Parking Kluisbos (next to restaurant/tearoom Etappe33), Sparrendreef, 9690 Ruien (Kluisbergen)

This varied and moderately difficult loop route of 8 km takes you through the iconic Kluisbos, located at the top and slopes of the Kluisberg (141 meters). With its many elevation meters and a gradient of over 9%, this walk offers a sporting challenge, rewarded with beautiful panoramic views over the Flemish Ardennes and Picard Wallonia.

Nature, Myths, and History
The route takes you along winding forest paths (over 60% car-free) past a rich palette of sights.
Along the way, you cross historical and mythological places:
> Wooden Giants: Within the forest, the impressive wooden sculptures of Prince Salvaert, The Hermit, and Liedericq stand guard.
> Historical Treasures: Walk past the Vierschaar (a medieval open-air court), ancient Tumuli at the highest points, and the legendary iron-sandstone Peetje and Meetje.
> Natural Phenomena: Take a break in the coolness of the mysterious Love Spring or at The Tower at the highest point of the forest.
