This is the route for the first day of the 3-day event "Together Strong," organized by the IKG (Integrated Cancer Center Ghent) of AZ Maria Middelares.

Every day, participants will cover approximately 100 km. The sponsorship money they raise will go to the Back on Track Fund for the cancer patients of AZ Maria Middelares.

On the first day, participants will travel from AZ Maria Middelares to Lier. On the second day, there will be this round trip from Lier, and on the third day, participants will return from Lier to AZ Maria Middelares.

The event is being organized for the third consecutive year. In 2018, we stayed in Mesen and in 2017 in Oostduinkerke.

The route is available for GPS via www.routeyou.com, but it can also be navigated using the cycling nodes. The nodes are included in the documentation of this route on routeyou.

The route begins at AZ Maria Middelares in Ghent. It goes through Melle to the Schelde, which is mostly followed to Sint Amands, reached by using the ferry (which runs every half hour, but not at 12:30 PM!).

On the other side of the Schelde, it goes through Temse, where the Rupel and the Nete are then followed all the way to Lier.
