Seddin

Seddin is a district of the municipality of Seddiner See in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district with about 1,130 inhabitants over an area of approximately 528 hectares. It lies on the southern shore of the Great Seddiner Lake in the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park, a large part of the area belonging to the locality is part of the Nuthetal – Beelitzer Sander landscape protection area.
The first human settlements at the Great Seddiner Lake date back more than 10,000 years, as evidenced by archaeological findings. It is believed that today's Seddin originated from a Slavic village along the Elbe, which was located around today’s church square. The farming and fishing village was designed as a round village, and the old town core has retained its structure. The Land Book of the Mark Brandenburg from 1375 mentioned 20 hooves for Sedyn.
