Building Pedro Roldan - Seville

It was designed in 1925 by José Espiau Muñoz and built for the weaver's house Pedro Roldán.

Once again Espiau shows its facet of spectacular architecture, making it perhaps one of the most photographed regionalist buildings by the tourists who visit us. As with the Adriática, he resorts to a belvedere to make the building stand out, in this case an octagonal belvedere with Gothic inspiration. According to Alberto Villar Movellán, the building has a clear Italian inspiration. The dome of the belvedere is reminiscent of Bruneleschi's dome for the Florentine Duomo , while the large windows are modeled on the Venetian loggia . The visitors of the Pedro Roldán department store needed to be optimally illuminated and that is why Espiau opted for this configuration with large windows, without giving up the aesthetics of the arches.
