Grotte de la Falouse

This magnificent site, with a hiking trail linking Belleray to Dugny, is an invitation to walk and jog. One of the main interests of the caves is to have been occupied by men, almost continuously, since the Neolithic period until the modern period.
Located 800 meters from the village of Belleray, the site of the caves of La Falouse is remarkable, most picturesque and particularly charged with history.

This name, derived from the word cliff, designates a long limestone wall - formerly exploited in quarries - whose foot, at the origin of time, bordered the Meuse river which dug natural caves there and where underground streams converged.
This wall, sometimes 9 to 10 toises high, presents a natural setting to an almost intact wild nature. This alternation of rocks and sloping forests is traversed by a very shaded path, bucolic as one could wish, which offers a remarkable view of the Meuse and its valley all along its path.
