Castle Kaldiff

Castel Kaldiff, or Castel Caldivo, is a castle located east of the village of Egna, not far from the hamlet of Mazzon, along the course of the Villa stream.

The ruins of a rather simple fortress remain, built in the 12th century. It was altered several times over the following centuries; the most significant of these renovations dates back to the end of the 15th century, by the Enn family, who owned it, and who transferred it not long after, in 1524, to the Payr von Altenburg family, who then became known as Payr von Kaldiff.
