Hunting lodge Sint-Hubertus

The Jachthuis Sint-Hubertus is a building in the north of the Dutch national park De Hoge Veluwe, between Otterlo and Hoenderloo. It was designed in 1914 by architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage, commissioned by the couple Helene and Anton Kröller-Müller. Later, however, a feeling of dissatisfaction arose at Berlage after the commissioning couple interfered with the designs again and again. This friction eventually led to Berlage withdrawing and Henry Van de Velde taking over his work.

The hunting lodge is named after Saint Hubert of Liège. The shape of the hunting lodge also has everything to do with the legend of Saint Hubert. In the middle is a high tower and the building has two side wings. As a result, the hunting lodge has the shape of a deer antler, and a cross is depicted on the tower in the middle of the building.
