About 46% of the route goes over unpaved roads (mostly gravel roads or bike paths with natural surfacing).
Last updated 28-Nov-2020: an additional gravel road in the valley of the Haelense Beek has been added to the route (which has now become 0.8 km longer).

The route starts at the Noordervaart in Meijel (from the parking lot at café De Stoep) and goes clockwise.
You first cycle towards Egchel (partly over gravel roads) and then to Helden. After that, you travel along bike paths with natural surfacing through the Heldense forests, but you also take in some gravel roads between Baarlo and Helden and between Helden and Neer.
Then you cycle along the Maas river near Neer and over gravel roads through the floodplains of the Maas to Buggenum. Next, you go to Nunhem and through the nature area of Leudal (partly over gravel roads), where you cross the Tungelroyse Beek twice and the Haelense Beek seven times. You pass by the Leumolen and also take a detour through Haelen to cycle past castle Aldenghoor. You cycle via a gravel road through the creek valley of the Haelense Beek and through the estate Beijlshof. Returning towards Meijel, you go through the countryside between Heythuysen and Roggel, and then via the Asbroekerheide (gravel road), along the Spaanse Bos (gravel road), and through the nature area de Waterbloem (forest path and gravel road).
