I Dilbekenians hanno il soprannome di "Cacciatori di Conigli". Quando l'imperatore Carlo V doveva visitare inaspettatamente Dilbeek, al 'De Gouden Kroon' tutto fu preparato in fretta. Troppo tardi il locandiere si accorse di aver dimenticato il pasto. Nel menu appariva 'Maiale allo spiedo', ma in realtà il bracconiere locale aveva svuotato le sue dodici trappole per conigli. L'imperatore si godette la deliziosa pietanza finché il suo gran cameriere scoprì l'inganno. Il locandiere dovette confessare e temeva già per la sua vita, ma l'imperatore mostrò clemenza. Ordinò a tutti di chiamare il locandiere e i suoi compaesani "Cacciatori di Conigli". Questa leggenda fu scritta nel 1957 da Robert Vonck.
