Living Heritage Court Averegten

De Averegten has been working with the 'Agriculture' department of GO! Atheneum Heist-op-den-Berg for taking care of local animals in the domain. This is bearing fruit, and new animals have already been born. Steunpunt Levende Erfgoed vzw, which stands up for old and regional breeds, recognizes and supports the valuable work that has been done here. The 'Living Heritage Court' recognition shield hangs on display at the farm of De Averegt.

The Living Heritage Support Centre (SLE) is an association that strives for the preservation of our old local, regional breeds of farm and farm animals: chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, pigeons, rabbits, dogs, sheep, goats, pigs, cattle and horses. They can count on the support of volunteers, companies, schools and various governments. At the end of 2018, SLE launched the Living Heritage Court label, GO! Atheneum Heist-op-den-Berg is the first school to obtain the label.
