1. Train walker Ruisbroek - Halle, Zenne and the Brussels-Charleroi canal

The first is a train trip from Ruisbroek to Halle, along the Zenne and the Brussels-Charleroi canal.

Halle is the only city in the Zenne valley and an ideal base to explore this beautiful region by public transport. We start with a walk in the footsteps of the river that shaped this area, the 'Zenne'. This winding river has formed a valley in the rolling landscape between Pajottenland, Picardian Wallonia, and Brussels.

From Halle, we take the S2 train to Ruisbroek to explore part of this valley along the industrial axis between Brussels and Charleroi. Alongside the Zenne and railway line 96, the Brussels Ring and the Brussels-Charleroi canal also run through this part of the valley. Nevertheless, this walk offers a charming mix of alleys, neighborhood paths, trails, country roads, and a towpath, leading us back from Ruisbroek via Lot, Huizingen, and Buizingen to Halle. This is a fairly flat walk for the Zenne valley, with the Zenne path as the highlight of this train trip between Ruisbroek and Halle.

For little walkers, you can shorten this walk by getting off in Buizingen. Via the 4 km long 'Zenne path', you can walk back to Halle and end the day with a visit to the water playground next to the public swimming pool.
