Cycling with Emile

The tourist services of Deinze and Waregem, in collaboration with mudel and Zeventiendorpen, have created a new cycling route. Discover the sources of inspiration of artist Emile Claus. The Leie provides the connection between his birthplace Sint-Eloois-Vijve and his beloved Astene along the Leie. Cycle 64 km through the Leie landscape via Deinze, Deurle, Astene, Machelen, Sint-Eloois-Vijve, and Waregem. This way, you can discover the many locations where Emile Claus found color and light for his sunny paintings, landscapes, and portraits. Follow the GPS and set off wherever you like!

85% of the route follows the junction network. Occasionally, an alternative route is chosen to pass closer to the points of interest (POIs).

You can also opt for a shorter loop starting in Deinze (33 km) or starting in Sint-Eloois-Vijve (34 km)
