GR17/GR126 combined with fantastic viewpoints at Chateau Walzin and Aiguilles de Chaleux

A pleasant walk according to the proven formula: just past the halfway point there is a wonderful stopover in Gendron-Gare, which can of course also serve as a starting point because it is accessible by public transport.

But by starting at the railway bridge on the way to Chaleux we have the option of a stopover in La Flobette (highly recommended!) or Gendron-Gare. Those who wish can avoid the last climb and shorten the walk to 13 km by continuing to follow the Lesse at the end.

Half of the route follows the GR17/GR126 between Gendron-Gare and the railway bridge near Walzin.

From the start under the railway bridge on the Route des Aiguilles de Chaleux we travel along the GR to Plage de Chaleux along the Chapelle-Saint-Nicolas. Here we already get a beautiful view of the Aiguilles de Chaleux!

We continue to follow the GR over the railway bridge (this is also the Promenade des Aiguilles de Chaleux - blue-purple triangle) and continue to the next railway bridge. We continue to the panorama of Walzin castle where the GR17 and GR126 split off. Before the passerelle de Walzin we retrace our steps over the bridge and turn left.

We leave the GR but continue to follow the Promenade, with a steep climb, up to the beautiful viewpoint over a bend of the Lesse, " Panorma des Aiguilles de Chaleux".

We do not go any further but return to descend along the Roche à la Chandelle to the Lesse. A spectacular view of this needle rock awaits the daredevils!

Below the Lesse we now follow the GR in the other direction . From Plage de Chaleux back to the parking lot to reach the other side of the Lesse via a railway bridge . We now arrive at the Reserve naturelle de Furfooz, with a little further the paying geological and archaeological Parc de Furfooz.

Further on our way we pass La Flobette, a pleasant stop in the middle of nature for the many kayakers and hikers.

A little further away, Gendron-Gare is a starting or stopping place for many kayakers. Here , O bord de la Lesse and Auberge de la Lesse are ideal stops to refuel before starting the final climb.

We leave the GR again to follow the road on the other side of the Lesse . Sports enthusiasts will certainly still have enough energy to take on the climb along the Ri de Vesse . When we reach the asphalt road, we take it to the right.

Descending to the already well-known Chaleux is all that remains...
