Half marathon Visput Vrijbroekpark (Weerde Mechelen)

This half marathon of 21.1 km is in loop form, 95% car-free, flat, rural and (with the exception of a short field road) very walkable. The loop starts at the north entrance of the Weerdse visput (spacious parking) and makes a round along the Weerdse Visput and the Mechels Vrijbroekpark. Via rural roads you return to Weerde along Hombeek.
You can of course leave at any other place in the loop to complete your 21.1km.

This loop is partly based on the 'Weerdse visput O.-L.-V.-in-het-Hammeken Vrijbroekpark' which you can find at the bottom of the TAB 'Routes' of https://www.routeyou.com/user/view/124619/wy-homepage.nl.

The main differences are:
-->After the first crossing under the Weerde Hofstade railway line, the Kleine Losweg is taken on the right, then left turn, left on the T, then right for the second crossing under a railway line.
-->On the old Brusselsesteenweg, the towpath to the right of the Senne is immediately taken in a northwesterly direction.
-->In the north of the Vrijbroekpark you keep all the ponds on your left: you start to the right of the first 'canal' and continue to follow the water on the left; Do not take the bridge over the water to the north, but continue to follow the water over a short unpaved part to the east. At the end of that unpaved particle you come back to a paved path that you take on the right, and that turns west a little later and you come back to the water. Now keep following the water on your left until you come back to your starting point on the canal. Then take a left and keep right to the north exit.
On the T (outside the domain) on the left, under the E19, and at the chapel of Mary on the left. This asphalt road stops after 100m and becomes a field road on the left. This field road (1 km long) is sometimes slippery in certain places after heavy rain. For me a very pleasant part in the pants.
--> After crossing under the railway line on the Senne in Hombeek, take the west flank of the Eglegem pond (you follow the pond on your left). In the southernmost point you turn right (up the Krom, you do not take the Zennedijk). A little further on the second left (over a cobblestone road that is partly well paved for slow traffic). You will then arrive at the OCMW of Zemst, cross the street and continue towards the left of the OCMW, where you will keep right after 100m to get to the rear of the Releghem Nursing Home. At the nursing home on the T take right, keep the nursing home on your left until its entrance. There out and on the T to the left. Keep walking in that direction (you pass a chapel at a roundabout), continue on the Brusselsesteenweg and into the cul-de-sac where you come via a path to the Dike of the Zenneverkorting. There you take the left. At the first bridge turn right, then straight ahead under two railway bridges, and then turn left between the houses (before the third bridge). At the end of that road turn right and left to return to the parking lot of the fishing pit. At your starting point you have completed the 21.1km.

In east winds and heavy traffic, you have some engine noise in certain places in addition to the E19.
