During the Romantic era from the late 18th century well into the 19th century, promenading reflected the spirit of the time. It marked the beginning of a new understanding of health. Taking the waters in spa towns was also part of this.The Hanoverian royal family had Bad Rehburg developed into an upscale spa town. The network of paths in the Rehburg mountains once spanned 34 kilometers. Bad Rehburg was referred to as the Madeira of the North.The historic promenade path passes by wonderful vistas and peaceful resting spots. These places are dedicated to the members of the House of Welf. Legendary views of Lake Steinhude, ponds, fountains, the Wolf Gorge, and the Friedrich Pavilion line the route. There are explanations about the historical sites and vistas, as they were once established by the House of Welf. The approximately 4-kilometer circular path begins at the end of Friedrich-Stolberg-Allee. The promenade path is signposted, as is the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Trail, which follows the same route.Rehburg-Loccum is located on the German Fairy Tale Route. The Brothers Grimm once traveled between Hanau, Kassel, Loccum, and Bremen, collecting fairy tales and legends to write them down. In 1812 and 1815, the collection Childrens and Household Tales by the Brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm was created.On the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Trail in Bad Rehburg, guests encounter various fairy tales and legends, depicted with wooden fairy-tale figures. Among them are the Pied Piper of Hamelin, Puss in Boots, The Table, the Donkey, and the Stick, and The Frog King.
