From the landscape garden to the city forest of SalzuflenStarting at the large hiking map between Kurpark and landscape garden, the 16 km circular route begins on the Karl-Bachler-Weg. First, we hike along the western shore of the Kurpark lake.

At the parking lot of the VitaSol Therme and at the bus stop, the signpost of the Karl-Bachler-Weg points to a narrow forest path. Gradually ascending, we hike uphill on soft forest ground. To the right, views of the golf course and into the distance open up.
To the left, a moist stream valley stretches out and leads the hiker to natural ponds.

On this stretch, the Karl-Bachler-Weg also follows the signage of the VitalWanderWeg. The Bad Salzuflen VitalWanderWelt was designed for active people who want to incorporate more exercise, new dietary habits, and well-being into their lives. Information boards along the way inform people who want to lose weight through healthy hiking.

Arriving at Schwaghof, we reach a historic site. The farm castle Schwaghof is a remnant of a knight's estate from the 12th century and is under monument protection.
Enjoy the gently undulating Lipperland from aboveFor a short break, the view of the vast Lipperland and the green forests is worth it.

The trail marker of the Karl-Bachler-Weg leads the hiker back downhill through a sparse beech, pine, and oak forest to the Salzetal.

For a short stretch, we follow parallel to the Extersche Straße towards Bad Salzuflen. In the past, the tracks of the tramway ran alongside and partly on this street.
At the intersection to Schwaghof, we cross the road and relax with views over meadows and fields in the renatured Salzetal.
Once more up high for fantastic viewsBelow the Knickberg (117 m), we turn left and climb uphill. The Karl-Bachler-Weg leads in a left curve around the mountain and past the "Stumpfer Turm" with a forest lake. A memorial stone commemorates the Stumpfer Turm of the Salzuflen Landwehr and used to serve as a watchtower to warn the city of Salzuflen with light and smoke signals.

On the left side of Waldemeinestraße and Alte Vlothoer Straße, we hike on an enchanted forest path for a short stretch towards Bad Salzuflen.
Discover memorials along the wayThe next stretch on the Heuweg runs below the Vierenberg and Asenberg. As soon as the path leads into the open plain, fantastic views over the community of Wüsten and into the distance reward you.

Just a few meters away, a rest at Hühnerwiem is worthwhile. At this rest area stands a memorial stone with the inscription "Hühnerwiem". It is thanks to Karl Bachler that he had this and other memorial stones erected.

The following path, also following in the footsteps of the Hansaweg and the Salzufler Hiking Trail No. 1, leads through mystical forest and shrubbery to the Salzuflen Bismarck Tower. Completed and inaugurated in 1900, the observation platform at 18 m height offers interesting views of the Kaiser-Wilhelm Monument at Porta Westfalica or the Hermannsdenkmal. Thanks to the tower renovation in 2004, the Bismarck Tower can be safely accessed. The key can be obtained at the Bergrestaurant Hollenstein. The Karl-Bachler-Weg leads there anyway.

At the mountain restaurant, we fortify ourselves for the final stretch on the hiking trail and reward ourselves with a magnificent view of the large community of Bad Salzuflen. The gentle descent at the southern foothills of the Vierenberg allows for new panoramic views.
In memory of hiking father Karl BachlerAlong the way, we pass by the Karl-Bachler-Stone. Karl Bachler, born in 1886 in Lage, deceased in 1976 in Bad Salzuflen, was considered a hiking father far beyond the regional borders. A line of a poem by the local poet Hermann Löns is immortalized on the Karl-Bachler-Stone: "Let your eyes be open, your mouth closed, and walk quietly, then secret things will be revealed to you."

Next to the memorial stone, a shelter offers protection in case of bad weather.
Not far from the memorial stone lies the Asenquelle. The Asen stream flows through the Asental to its confluence with the Salze at the Salzuflen landscape garden.

Below the Asenberg, we enjoy the final views of the plain spread out before us, before descending via local streets to the experience spaces of Bad Salzuflen.

The foot and arm pools in Kurpark offer refreshment to the hikers. For well-being, a glass of brine water served in the Wandelhalle from the Salzuflen fountain is recommended. For those with a big or small appetite, the culinary variety of restaurants and cafes in the pretty city center of the wellness city of Bad Salzuflen is enticing.

Feel free to spend a few days in the salt city of Bad Salzuflen. Here you will find relaxation, a wide range of health offers, and cycling and hiking tours of varying difficulty levels.
